Declutter progress pictures

The goal at the top of the list for me this year was to finally get my study organised.  studybeforeYou can see my bf caught me in a candid moment earlier this year.  I must have done a bit of tidying beforehand, because you can actually see carpet…  What this photo doesn’t show is the piles of boxes to the right, behind him, and the floor to ceiling bookshelves against the right hand wall that are also choc-full.  Chaos ruled supreme.

So, today, with a day off tomorrow and a stretch of time ahead, I got stuck in.  First off, bf helped me shift said boxes out to sort through as I put them back in.  You should see what the lounge looks like!  Hang on, I took a photo, so you can.  That’s the wreck I made of my lounge room below…

img_0858rsOnce that was all moved out, I organised with the bf that I wanted time to myself until at least tomorrow afternoon, and sent him home.  So I was free and clear to get stuck into it.  I’d do a solid half to 3/4 hour, then take a break, then get back into it.  That pattern works well for me.  It was a hot day, but I was sweating way more than that could’ve accounted for!

Next step was to clear off the two desks you see behind me, empty the bookshelves and shift them away.  I got through that by 2.30pm.  Then I shifted furniture around.  After that, I rearranged the computer (cables all organised now – I’m happy!) and started reconnecting it.  img_0885rsNow I’m up to the point where I’m going through the stuff in the lounge and bit by bit finding it a home – although lots of them are being relocated to a) garbage or b) the charity box.  Luckily for me it’s garbage night tonight.  I can fill it up again tomorrow…

The lounge is still absolutely mad (although slightly better than the picture now) but that’s tomorrow’s job.  This is what my study looks like right now.  The challenge now is to keep the clean lines as I fit stuff back in!  Once I’m done, it’ll go into a slideshow and I’ll post that up for you.

I’m looking forward to starting 2009 with a fantastic place to work from, but even more so it feels great to have got my teeth into accomplishing one of my top 10 goals so early!
