7.42 reasons to use numbered lists

by Crystal on December 9, 2008

1. They make it believable
2. They catch attention
3. They give you expert status
4. They increase curiosity
5. They make a shorter title
6. They get more click-throughs
7. They look really cool
7.42 They are a goo…

(This post was inspired after I found myself automatically clicking on a tweet link that said “4,439 Words on Driving Traffic to your Blog”, realised what I’d done, and started laughing at myself.)

What else have I missed? (comment below)

It was just meant as a funny way of pointing out how well trained some of us are to clicking links that have numbers in them. Like those headlines that say “$2,439 in one weekend” – it’s an old Marketing trick that specific numbers are meant to be more believable. So when I clicked on a link just because it had numbers, I started thinking why – and this post was the result.
I do hope you get some use out of it. :)
